FROM THE ASHES
PRIVACY NOTICE.
Effective October 5, 2026 · Account, chat and community safety
Information we use
We use your Discord-linked identity, profile, game assignments and membership status to operate the community. Chat stores messages, conversation membership, timestamps, read receipts and temporary typing and online status. Hosting and service providers may process connection and security logs.
Who can see your chats
Ordinary chat access is limited to conversation participants. Participants can forward messages or share their contents. Members can report messages without notifying the reported person. Authorized administrators review reported text and relevant conversation context in two stages: an initial review with account names and IDs withheld, followed by an identity review by a different administrator. Message wording may still reveal identity clues. Text evidence and decisions are preserved for moderation, ban justification and appeals; this evidence process does not store image files. Material flagged by safety systems may also be reviewed when those systems are enabled. Moderator access must be limited to the investigation rather than unrestricted browsing of private conversations.
Automated keyword and image screening are not currently enabled. Direct chat image uploads are not currently supported. This notice does not mean that all messages are monitored or that abuse detection is guaranteed.
Chat is not end-to-end encrypted. Necessary service operations, security investigations and valid legal requests may require access by the operator or service providers.
Safety and legal disclosures
Do not use this site for child sexual exploitation, threats, harassment or other unlawful conduct. We may restrict access and disclose relevant information to service providers, NCMEC or appropriate authorities when required or permitted by applicable law. Report suspected abuse to community leadership; in an immediate emergency, contact emergency services.
Potential evidence must be handled through a restricted response process. Do not forward suspected illegal imagery to other members or download it to personal devices.
Moderation records and ban enforcement
We retain ban reasons, verified Discord identifiers, server-observed sign-in IP addresses, and records of administrative changes, including the administrator, date, affected account and before/after values. These records support community safety and review of possible ban evasion. New accounts are limited to five admissions from the same IP address in a rolling 24-hour period and cannot be admitted from an IP recorded on a banned account. Existing admitted accounts can continue signing in from those addresses unless their own account is banned. Shared IP matches are also available for leadership review and are not proof of identity. We do not collect a hardware ID or use hidden browser fingerprinting.
Moderation records and account exports are restricted to authorized leadership. Raw IP addresses are restricted to the owner. Retained moderation records may remain after access is banned. Account exports contain profile, membership, moderation, administrative-change, available authentication history and history-access records. They may include preserved reported-message text and context after the initial review, but do not provide unrestricted private-conversation exports, authentication secrets or passwords. Administrative views and exports of account histories and report evidence are logged with the actor and server timestamp. Login history records successful sessions and authentication audit events supplied by the provider; unsuccessful attempts outside the site may not be available or attributable to an account.
Storage and deletion
Information is retained as needed to operate the service and address safety or legal requirements. Hiding or deleting a conversation from your own inbox does not necessarily erase messages for other participants or from service records. Required evidence preservation may prevent deletion. No fixed automatic deletion period is currently promised.
Service providers and your choices
The site uses Discord for authentication, Supabase for account and community data, and GitHub Pages for hosting. External fonts and media may make requests to their respective providers. Contact leadership about your account information, privacy questions or a deletion request.
By signing in or using chat, you acknowledge this notice. This does not waive your legal rights or replace any consent separately required by law. Material changes will be reflected in an updated notice.
